About Us

The team with a mission of Financial Justice

BACOL is a Caribbean-wide limited liability company, established to secure fair and just compensation for aggrieved policyholders, investors and beneficiaries of the collapsed British American Insurance Company Limited (BAICO) in 9 Caribbean countries:

Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and St. Kitts and Nevis.

We are offering all aggrieved persons the opportunity to register and become a part of our company, as we pursue fair and
just compensation before the Caribbean Court of Justice on behalf of all policyholders, investors and beneficiaries in the nine countries.

Registration with BACOL is the only viable way for eligible persons to receive compensation, and we have engaged the services of attorneys (Case Managers) in each country, to receive applications for registration.

BACOL is currently pursuing financial justice for policyholders and investors of British American Insurance Company Limited.

Dr. Patrick Antoine

Dr. Patrick Antoine is a renowned Caribbean intellectual and regional thinker with a wealth of experience in both the public and private spheres. He is well known for his role as former Lead Technical Adviser at the Caribbean Community’s Regional Negotiating Machinery (RNM).

Simon Davenport QC

Simon is a senior commercial and chancery silk who specialises in heavy commercial disputes, civil fraud, insolvency, international arbitration and professional negligence cases both domestically and internationally. He is described as “a first-rate silk” and a “fearless advocate”.

Robert Strang

Robert is an experienced and effective advocate, specialising in commercial and public law. He has appeared as an advocate many times at the highest level, having acted in several appeals to the Privy Council. In the Legal 500, 2021, he is described as “A go-to for Privy Council and Caribbean cases.”

Gregory Pantin

Gregory is a Partner at M. Hamel-Smith & Co. in its Dispute and Risk Management Group where he has a broad range of commercial dispute practice ranging from Admiralty to Tax litigation handling a variety of commercial disputes particularly matters involving issues in Admiralty, Construction and Development, Corporate Law & Governance, complex commercial litigation and the environment.

Miguel Vasquez

Miguel is an Associate at M. Hamel-Smith & Co. in its Dispute and Risk Management Group where he has a diverse portfolio of matters comprising of commercial and company law litigation involving issues regarding Corporate and Company law including take-overs and acquisitions, as well as tax advisory and litigation, pertaining to cross-border transactions and pricing issues, as well as general taxation issues.
